Aug 31, 2016· In long hives, it goes to the side only. In Langs it goes mostly on top and some to the sides. In wild hives, it can be either way, but the brood is generally toward the bottom. My hives have both small top entrances and large bottom entrances, and my bees use the top ones almost exclusively. I don’t know why.
