Feb 24, 2008· I tried not embedding, admittedly in non-grooved frames, and had cases of the foundation collapsing (top folding over and bridging to adjacent frames) and creating a mess in the hive - since then I''ve embedded using my wife''s hairdryer to warm the wax and a small screwdriver to push the wire in at 2" intervals - with tight wires it embeds nicely and is quick.

It makes for a much more solid sheet of foundation, and gives better brood comb. However, the little darlings will also turn some beautiful foundation into drone comb...

Buy some beeswax on Ebay, cut a piece or two of the no hook foundation into strips and use melted beeswax to embed the strips into the groove in the top bar. Dec 19, 2002· The wires should be on top of the foundation and the embedder sits on top of the wire. The embedder has 4 copper tabs that stick down from the wooden bar but only the outside two have wires connected to them. The current passes from one tab, through the frame wire, to the other tab, causing the thin wire to heat up due to resistance.
